Compressed Air Savings at IETC

This morning a chaired an excellent session on compressed air system efficiency at the IETC conference in New Orleans. In spite of working on compressed air systems for over 30 years, I am impressed that the savings remain to be had, and there are so many new opportunities.

Jim McAuley gave a great presentation on how to optimize systems to achieve maximum efficiency.

Alexander Pavlov with AtlasCopco presented their integrated approach to system efficiency. He also talked about their new Carbon Zero compressor that can recover 100% of the energy value of electricity input in the form of heat for use in hot water production or boiler make-up preheat.

Finally, Darren Woodruff with Petro Chemical Energy reminded attendees that leak detection and repair is a never ending opportunity.
